Wow this past week has been amazing! We had an amazing English Class both Wednesday and Saturday. On Wednesday we taught about sports, and at the end of class we played crab soccer! Definitely something we will do more often! On Saturday we also talked about sports and competitions. Instead of crab soccer we turned the entire class into a competition of two teams (the Cute Black Cats vs. the Polar Bear Ghosts)! I was laughing so hard the entire class. I really do love them!
Happy news! Our friend Johnny we have been teaching since I first came to Yilan came to church on Sunday and do you know what that means? HE'S GETTING BAPTIZED ON SATURDAY!!!!! AHHHHHH!!!! It truly has been amazing watching him grow and his testimony develop over time. I'm so excited to see how he will continue to grow after he receives the Holy Ghost.
The Bitter Sweet news: I have been asked to serve in Hualien (which is father south on the coast then my current city) as a Sister Training Leader. Which I am so excited for! I will being getting to serve with Sister Valencia (my third Filipino companion). As a STL we get to go on exchanges with other Sisters, and I'm so lucky! I will get to go with Sister Griffin and Concardas (from the MTC) and Sister Delong (my current STL). That is the sweet part, the bitter part is I will be leaving Sister Hansen and Yilan.
I've decided the hardest part of a mission is giving your heart to a companion, ward, friends, and area and than having to leave. As a lot of you know I don't like change, and when we got the phone call last night telling us I was leaving there was a lot of tears shed. However, at one point Sister Hansen went to get toilet paper from the bathroom (we ran out of tissues) and I said a very simple but fervent prayer. And there was this warm feeling that came and I felt so much peace. I know Heavenly Father has a perfect plan for us and even though it may not be what we thought it will always be the best thing for us.
I'm so grateful to have been able to serve a mission, to serve the people of Taiwan, love all of my companions, watch people change by relying on the Christ, my love for my Savior growing, and my trust in my Heavenly Father strengthens. I know this gospel is true and I love it with all of my heart!
love, Sister Porter
